FHLB Des Moines is committed to promoting community and economic development. Through targeted housing and economic development grants, reduced-rate advances, downpayment assistance programs and technical expertise, FHLB Des Moines assists its customers in their affordable housing and economic development efforts.

Affordable Housing Advisory Council
FHLB Des Moines' Affordable Housing Advisory Council is a 15-member group that advises the Bank on housing and economic development programs and needs. To view a copy of our most recent AHAC Annual Report, click here.

Affordable Housing Program
In partnership with member financial institutions and local community development organizations, FHLB Des Moines helps finance affordable housing for under-served populations.

Native American Homeownership Initiative
The Native American Homeownership Initiative assists potential homebuyers living in Native American Service Areas with funds for downpayment, closing and rehabilitation costs.

Rural Homeownership Fund
The Rural Homeownership Fund is a program that provides money to our member banks to assist homebuyers in rural communities with downpayment, closing and rehabilitation costs.
 
The Urban Homeownership Fund is a program that provides money to our member banks eligible homebuyers in urban communities for assistance with downpayment, closing and rehabilitation costs.

Urban First-Time Homebuyer Fund
The Urban First-Time Homebuyer Fund is a program that provides money to our member banks to assist first-time homebuyers in urban communities with downpayment, closing and rehabilitation costs.
